Course Withdrawals and Reinstatements
Course Withdrawals
When a student needs to withdraw from their course, whether by choice or administratively due to inactivity, we try to make the process as easy and supportive as possible. Learn more about each type of withdrawal:
Course Reinstatements
We understand that life happens, and there are many reasons why a student might be inactive in their course and administratively withdrawn. We hope to make this an experience of growth and provide support to a student to re-enter their NSO course if they (and their family and school) choose.
The first step for reinstatement is to contact NSO. We ask that the student, rather than the parent, reach out so we can be sure the student is ready to re-engage in their learning.
Before being reinstated, an NSO School Counselor will speak to the student about plans to more successfully engage in their course, including ways to stay on track with pacing and progress.
Depending on each individual circumstance, a course reinstatement may or may not be approved. Based on the student's situation, time remaining in the term, and progress prior to withdrawal, we will work to make a plan that will be most beneficial for the student and their learning.
If a student is reinstated in their course, any work they completed in the course prior to withdrawal will be saved and transferred into their new course. We will continue to monitor their progress and provide support to help them engage in their learning.
