English 12 (previously English 4)

Course Description

This 12th grade level English course takes a closer look at how storytelling and communication have changed over time, from ancient myths to today’s digital media. Students examine how culture, history, and technology shape human expression. Readings include ancient myths, Greek mythology, British Romantic literature, and Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, with a focus on recurring themes, ethical questions, and how these texts still connect to issues we see today.

Students also practice modern forms of storytelling through blogging, podcasting, and research based writing, with an emphasis on developing a clear, responsible online voice. By the end of the course, students will have strengthened their critical thinking, research, and communication skills, while examining how literacy functions as a powerful tool in our world today.
