Course Description
EmpowerU is an elective course designed to improve student mental health, motivation, and social connections and to help students make positive changes, increase motivation and build resilience. Through engaging lessons, students learn the skills they need to overcome non-academic barriers to success like anxiety, low mood, loneliness and unhealthy distractions. Students learn through videos and questions to help them apply what they learn to their goals so they can take small steps forward each day and receive personalized, asynchronous coaching from their teacher that enables them to connect the concepts in each lesson to their life and goals. This 1:1 support and accountability helps students take charge of their emotions and behaviors, boosting motivation, engagement, and success— with lasting results.
This course can function as a MTSS mental health semester intervention for students who need additional support and is offered for Middle School (6-8) and High School (9 - 12) grades.
High School students complete 41 skill-building lessons that focus on personal empowerment and resilience and Middle School students use guided study or target time to complete 33 skill-building lessons that focus on building persistence and resilience.
