Request a Course

Term means the time of year (fall, spring, or summer) you will be taking the course. View the NSO Term Schedule to help you know which term you should choose.

You can view the full list of courses offered on our Course List. If you don’t see a course offered that is on the list, reach out to NSOhelpdesk@district287.org to ask.

The segment means the part of the course you are taking (Quarter A or Semester B of the course, for example). Each course offered by NSO can be taken for a semester (.5), trimester (.33), or quarter (.25) credit and you can take any part of the course (Quarter A/B/C/D, Trimester A/B/C, or Semester A/B) at any time of year. For example, if you need only Semester B of a course, you can take that in the fall (no need to wait until spring term!)

Choose the part of the course that you need based on your school’s schedule and your credit requirements. If you aren’t sure, ask your School Counselor or just choose Sem A and contact us at NSOhelpdesk@district287.org to request further review.

You can choose from Supplemental, Tuition or Independent Study enrollment types. 

Supplemental (SU): Choose this if you are a public school student and are replacing a course during your school day with your NSO course. 

Independent Study (IS): Commonly referred to as credit recovery, choose this if you are taking this course on top of your regular course load or in the summer in order to make up credits. 

Tuition (TU): Choose this if you are taking this course in addition to a full course load or in the summer to accelerate your learning or you are a private school or homeschool student. This option means your family will pay for this course. 

You can choose the start and end dates that fit your school schedule. It can help to discuss these dates with your School Counselor to make sure your course will fit into your schedule.

If you aren’t sure, reach out to your parent/guardian or School Counselor to ask! They should be aware of whether or not you have one. If you aren’t sure, you can choose “no” and reach out to NSOhelpdesk@district287.org for additional review.
